Air Fryer Sliced Potatoes are quick to make and ready in under 30 minutes. They turn crispy on the outside and stay soft inside. This is a healthier option than deep frying and works great as a snack, side dish, or appetizer.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs Yukon Gold or Russet potatoes
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- ½ teaspoon kosher salt
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
Instructions
Step 1: Slice the Potatoes
Peel the potatoes first.
Cut them into thin slices, about ¼ inch thick, using a knife or slicer.
Step 2: Soak the Potatoes
Place the sliced potatoes in a bowl.
Fill the bowl with cold water until the slices are fully covered.
Let them soak for 15–30 minutes.
After soaking, drain the water and dry the slices well using paper towels.
(This step helps make them extra crispy.)
Step 3: Season the Potatoes
Put the dried potato slices back into a clean bowl.
Add olive oil, salt, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
Mix everything well so each slice gets coated evenly.
Step 4: First Air Fry Batch
Put half of the potato slices into the air fryer basket (7-qt or larger).
Try to arrange them in a single layer. A little overlap is okay.
Air fry at 380°F for 12–15 minutes.
Shake the basket every 5 minutes for even cooking.
Check after 12 minutes. The potatoes should be golden, crispy outside, and soft inside.
Step 5: Second Air Fry Batch
Take out the cooked potatoes and keep them warm.
Now cook the remaining slices the same way as above.
Step 6: Serve
Serve the potatoes hot right away.
Enjoy them with dill aioli or any dip you like.

Notes
You can leave the skin on the potatoes if you prefer. If so, wash thoroughly so they are clean.
Slice the potatoes equally or in similar sizes for even cooking.
Don’t slice the potatoes too thin as this recipe is not for potato crisps.
If you have the time, soak the potatoes in water for 30 minutes to get rid of some of the starch and crisp better.
Adjust salt and black pepper to your taste.
You can use other dry rubs like potato seasoning, vegetable seasoning, etc to season the potatoes before air frying.
Don’t omit the oil as it helps in cooking and crisping the potatoes.
Don’t overfill the air fryer basket. I recommend not to fill it more than a quarter. If need be, you can cook them in batches.
Shake the air fryer basket at least once during cooking so the potatoes cook evenly.
Air fryer temperature varies by brand, size, and wattage so when making an air fryer recipe for the first time, keep an eye on the food and check for doneness at the lowest cooking time recommended after which you can adjust accordingly.
